Turmeric has been used for centuries in Ayurveda, a natural medicine system that can be traced back to around 5000 BC in India. Ayurveda names three elemental substances, the doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and states that a balance of the doshas results in good health, while imbalance results in disease.
In Ayurveda, turmeric is believed to balance all three doshas and is used by Ayurvedic healers as a medicine, taken internally. Turmeric preparations have been used to treat arthritis, cold and flu, provide relief from congestion, aid digestion, cleanse the blood and lymphs, support a healthy female reproductive system and strengthen the liver.
This creamy winter warmer will delight your tastebuds while providing the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric.
- 2 inch piece of fresh Turmeric
- 1/2 inch fresh Ginger
- 400ml (1 can) Organic Coconut Milk
- 250ml (1 cup) Coconut Water
- 1/4 tsp Black Peppercorns
- 2-3 Tbsp Honey
If you are using a Vitamix, combine all ingredients and blend until warmed through.
Alternatively, place all ingredients in a blender.
Blend until smooth then add to a small saucepan and gently heat until warmed through.
